Reduction of the operating vibrations of the horizontal pump

Description of the pump
Four stage, centrifugal chamber pump with the footers in the plane of the shaft. Pump operating revolutions
are in the range
of 8,400 min-1 (140 Hz) to 9,000 min-1 (150 Hz).

Increased vibrations were present during the pump operation.

Calculation by finite element method and measurement of the natural frequencies during the operating vibrations confirmed that the natural frequencies are near the regulation range.

Re-harmonizing of the pump natural frequencies out of the range of the operating revolutions by re-designing
the pump supporting frame.

Too much reinforcement of the supporting frame could bring the transfer of other natural frequencies to the range
of the pump operating revolutions. Hence, new frame design was checked and optimized.
