Calculation of the single-stage volute pump

Description of the pump
Horizontal, centrifugal, single-stage, volute pump. Pump and electric drive are placed on the same supporting frame
of the steel sections. Pump with the electric drive are connected by means of the flexible clutch.

Loads
Gravity by the mass of the particular parts of the pump and mass of the electric drive, clutch, frame and liquids.
Tightening the bolts of the flange connections.
Pressure and temperature of the transported medium.
Hydraulic forces from the impeller.
Forces and moments from the connecting piping.
Torque from the electric drive.
Response spectra for the level of the room, where the pump is placed.
Acceptable vibrations during the pump operation.

Results
Thermal field.
Natural frequencies of the machinery.
Critical rotor velocity.
Stiffness values in the location of the pump nozzles (for the calculation of the connecting pipelines).
Response on the static and thermal loads.
Response on the seismic loads.
Response on the vibration loads.
Torques of the bolts of the flange connections at the nozzles and in the piping.
Inner resultants at the construction part beneath the pump frame.

Assessment
Static strength of the pump parts, supporting frame and bolts of the flange connections during the operating loads.
Cyclic strength of the pump pressure parts and bolts of the flange connections during the operating loads.
Resistance of the pressure parts and bolts of the flange connections against the sudden fracture.
Static strength of the pump parts, supporting frame and bolts of the flange connections during the combination
of the operating and seismic loads.

Tightness of the flange connections and the stuffing box during the combination of the operating and seismic loads.
Static and cyclic strength of the pump shaft.
Functional capability of the pump during the seismic event.
Bearing capacity of the anchorage bolts of the pump frame to the constructional part.
Limit seismic resistance of the pump (HCLPF).
